(New Video Post) #BlackActress Ep 6 ft. @EssenceAtkins

Hey guys!

I can’t believe how quickly the weeks have gone by and we’re already at episode 6! I hope you guys are enjoying the show! Tonight’s episode features the beautiful and humble Essence Atkins who I literally grew up watching on “The Smart Guy” I LOVED that show! Essence gave such an awesome interview, she felt like my family! I wish her the best of success.

Episode Description:
Essence Atkins gives advice on how she dealt with a dry spell in her career as we watch Kori continue to struggle through her own. Trying her best to be optimistic she has a meeting with her agent in hopes of getting some good news only to find out that her “bad streak” may last a little longer.

Love the series . I used to want to be an actress, I even went to a performing arts high school and majored in theatre for 4 years. I still love the craft but the industry is just not for me. Great job on putting the show together and shedding a light for young black girls that may be considering going into acting!

Oh Andrea, my heart was breaking for Kori during her conversation with her agent. I always heard on YT and on tv interviews about how rough the industry is but for some reason it hit home when I saw Kori get ripped to shreds like that. I think it was because I imagined the same happened to you at some point in your career and I just can’t accept anyone being so mean. You made it very clear that the life of an artist is difficult and not just because parts are hard to land. It’s difficult because, to do yourself and your art justice, you have to be very vulnerable and with that vulnerability comes criticism from others. So you end up being a thorny rose: very beautiful and vulnerable but MUST have some thorns to protect from being snatched up and torn off before fully blooming. I admire you as your work! Keep it up, lady!

I had a casting agent say things to me when I was younger and that’s what made my mom pull me. I loved the fact you didn’t only show the glam of acting but the realistic outlook of it. I love Essence Atkins! I am glad she had a career but didn’t let it engulf her. Its great to focus on a multitude of things. The Jamaican monologue had me and my mother in knots!!! Kori’s hair is EVERYTHING! !!! Great acting as usual!
