(New Post) Don’t Wait To Be…

“Don’t wait to be cast, you cast the cast”

Today a friend sent me that message with a picture of Chaka Khan, I may have mentioned this before but playing Chaka Khan in a bio-pic is my dream role.

That message is really what I needed to read today because of late I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed and down. I have so many ideas and things that I want to make happen for my career and life but at times it can feel like I’m moving at a snails pace and it’s very frustrating. I try my best to not complain and over think and worry about all of the things that I need but instead I try my best to focus on what I can do to keep moving forward. I’m a big believer in the idea that if you want something done you’re going to have to do it yourself. Even if you need a team you’re the only one to put that team together and you’ll probably have to work harder than everyone on that team because it’s your dream and no one else is as passionate about it as you are.

I wish that a lot of my goals could just magically get accomplished and that the work involved would come very easy and I wouldn’t have to worry because a large pile of money, a great distribution team and even better PR team would come with it waiting for me. But unfortunately that’s just not the case and the word “work” and “easy” don’t go together because a dream isn’t supposed to be easy, the journey wouldn’t be as fun if it was.

My 2014 motto is “Find A Way” and the message from my friend reminded me of why I constantly need to find a way and not be overwhelmed, discouraged or worry about the “speed” of my life because I am making it happen and that’s all that matters. So for my friends who may have been feeling how I’ve been feeling lately, don’t worry, don’t wait and do the work. It’s not about how long it takes as long as you keep going and make it happen in the time that it’s supposed to happen.

So I guess this means you are drafting up the script for it and contacting Chaka to pick her brain, right? 😉 Best wishes. Thanks for being an inspiration. I hope our paths cross one day.
